Types of Leave for hotel Employees

Different Types of Leave for hotel Employees:

1) Annual Leave

  • Entitlement is stipulated in the employment contract
  • Completion of 3 months Service
  • Annual leave can be taken after probation
  • Should be taken within the year but can be forward to 31st March of the next year
  • On minimum of 1 day basis for Operation Staff

2) Sick Leave - Less than 4 days

  • Permanent employees
  • Completion of 6 months service
  • Maximum 7 days of full paid sick leave per each calendar year.
  • Inform supervisor by telephone or email at least 2 hours in advance.
  • Submit valid medical certificate within 2 days upon resuming duty.

3) Illness / Sick Leave - 4 consecutive days or more

  • In accordance with the labour ordinance
  • Four-fifths of the average daily wages
  • Inform supervisor by telephone or email at least 2 hours in advance.
  • Submit valid medical certificate within 2 days upon resuming duty.

4) Birthday Leave:

  • Permanent staff completed 1 year of service
  • Submit leave application in advance and mark “birthday Leave”
  • Leave on the birth date
  • No compensation if the birth date falls on holidays

5) Maternity Leave:

  • Female employees under a continuous contract for not less than 40 weeks immediately before the commencement of maternity leave
  • Submit a medical certificate specifying the expected date of confinement
  • 10 weeks maternity leave with Four-fifths of the average daily wages

6) Marriage Leave:

  • Permanent staff completed 1 year of service.
  • 1 day leave with full day within 1 month of the registration date.
  • Submit leave application 2 weeks in advance with supporting document.

7) Overtime / Compensation Leave:

  • Normally overtime work is without pay or compensation
  • Under special occasion, compensation leave may be given with approval from the department head.
  • Submit leave application in advance

8) Public Holidays:

  • Employees are entitled to statutory holidays or Government Gazetted public holidays as stipulated in the employment contract.
  • Substitution holiday will be arranged if the employee is required to work on the holiday.
