How the front office and housekeeping departments are communicating?

What are the ways FO & HK communicate with each other?

The front office should inform HK if the guest is scanty baggage or physically challenged. Any special requirements needed in the guest room etc.

Only 2 ways of communication – by telephone & by PMS.

While check out FO must inform HK to check the room upon settling the bill and also on departure to avoid minibar or any other disputes.


HK do the physical cross-checking with FO using room discrepancy report
we do use HK app for instant updating which is connected to the PMS

@shafi HK should do properly system update & release the room, to FO so as to assign rooms for arriving guests.

Any future blocking for repair/maintenance should be informed prior to avoid confusion with FO.
VIP arrivals and room requirements should be informed to HK.
Early departure and late checkout etc. should be informed to each other.
Early check-in should be informed so as to keep the rooms ready if vacant.
Group check-in should be informed prior.
